East African Community OLPC launch

Here's a short video from last month's meeting of the East African Legislative Assembly, shortly before the EAC announced a regional OLPC initiative: This was the 11th Summit of the Heads of State of the East African Community (EAC).  President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania and Secretary General Juma Volter Mwapachu of the EAC said a few words prior to Matt Keller's presentation. The East African Community (EAC) is the regional intergovernmental organization of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.  Its legislative arm, the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), addresses regional policy issues, and has been active since 2001; Rwanda and Burundi joined the EALA relative recently, in 2007.

K.C. Hug (not verified) says: I am working with a Kenyan elementary school headmaster (Mr. J.) who runs a school near Kitui, Kenya. My family was privileged to have him stay with us for a few days this summer on an exchange program. His school recently installed electricity and he believes that access to computers would provide the children under his charge skills they don't have access to today. The parents couldn't afford and/or support the tuition increases associated with computer purchases. March 8, 2010 at 9 pm

K.C. Hug (not verified) says: I see from the blog that a new EAC OLPC initiative was launched. Can someone help me connect Mr. J. with the OLPC project leaders from the EAC in Kenya? Is there any additional volunteer help that I could provide to get the project underway in Kenya or Kitui? March 8, 2010 at 9 pm
